Green screen on TV

HI,  I purchased an insgnia TV 55" a few years ago.  Now when we are watching tv, it goes from the tv show with sound to a complete green screen with no sound.  What could the problem be?

Re: Green screen on TV

Hi pnwinter,

I bet its super frustrating with that green screen that happens, and magically makes it feel like you are watching a Wizard Oz Special on the Emerald City. I’d be happy to provide you a few simple trouble shooting tips.

Is the screen completely green, or is everything green tinted? Does this occur on every source or only when you are watching a certain one?

Often times when this happens it means the source you are watching could have a connectivity issue. This means the cable that connects into your TV has a short, or has a damaged prong. Due to the fact that you also lose sound when this occurs it seems like this might be your issue. When was the last time you updated your cables that deliver your picture?

If this green haze is on more than one video source that you are watching it could be that your color settings are off. I’d recommend looking into the different modes that you can change your TV to, these often times heighten the blues, reds, and greens.

Lastly, if those don’t remedy your issue it could be something internally that’s wrong with your TV. If you provide me the model number of your TV I’d be happy to double check if you have a Geek Squad protection plan on that unit.

Please let me know if you need further assistance, or if you have other questions.

Warm Regards,
