I have a gifted older Insignia TV given to me after I literally lost everything. Is there any firmware available to upgrade this TV to hook-up wireless wifi?

On older televisions the USB ports are generally for powering devices like sticks and also viewing pictures. They are generally not for WIFI use as those TVs don't have that capability built in. If you are looking for smart device functionality you can get a Roku streaming device for $24.99 here

The normal price is $29.99 I don't know when the sale ends to be honest but its a fantastic way to get everything you need in one device and its speedy. I own it myself.

Hi Katladd. Thank you for taking the time to stop by our community forums. In todays world I know how important it is to have Wi-Fi connected devices, they make everything so much simpler. Like hockeycanuckjc mentioned the best way to make your TV into a smart TV would be to connect a Wi-Fi enabled device like a Fire Stick, Roku or other smart boxes. This will give you access to all the apps you need for streaming movies, tv shows and music. Some even offer games.
