Re: Connecting an External Hard Drive to TV

One note to what was said. I have had many a roku and yes they have a USB port, but it is not powered. I tried to do this a while back before deciding to look it up. It was an epic fail.

Re: Connecting an External Hard Drive to TV

Although most new televisions have this USB connection, older TVs do not.Connect the external hard drive to an electrical outlet, but do not power it on yet. Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the external hard drive, then connect the opposite end of the cable to the USB port on the television.

Re: Connecting an External Hard Drive to TV

If you have a modem and router just hook in there and you can access what's on hard drive through your cable/wifi on your tv if able or through chrome cast rokue apple box whatever will play your files..and if you set up your router right you can access that hard drive from devices away from home by logging into your router ..must download though , good thing I've shrunk all my movies down to 1gb or less anyways good luck these other ways sounds good too
