Hello:  Have a 2 year old Insignia and just purchased a Samsung soundbar and can't figure out how to connect them.  there are only 3 plugs on the soundbar:  the optical (square end), auxiliary, and USB.  

On the Insignia TV, there is no squared ended optical port on the tv but there are several other such as :

Coaxial,

5 component/Av:  (Y) (Pb) (Pr) (L) (R);  

Ant/Cable

VGA

PC/DVI (audio in)

and two HDMI ports.  

How do I connect the soundbar to this tv?

They might not be compatibile due to the hookups available. The only reason i say this and i wonder if we bougut the same one as you. Is because our soundbar sounds the same however we had to hook ours up via optical cable from tv to the bar.

I finally ran an auxilllary cord 3.5 from the headphones jack on the t.v. to the speaker.  That seems to be the only fix.  Thanks for your response.  If anyone has any other ideas, would love to hear them.  Friend suggested plug in optical cable into speaker and convert to rca for the t.v., but I don't know how to do that.
