Black Screen Fire TV

I have a Toshiba Fire TV that is less than a year old. A month after having the TV I would notice the screen would go black and audio would continue. I fixed this problem by going into setting and turning down the Backlight. A few months go by with no problem. However now the same problem arises but only when I use Disney Plus or Prime HD videos. Not sure how to fix this? I really don't want to turn my TV on and off every 2 minutes to reset the screen.

Re: Black Screen Fire TV

Kind of a silly question but did you attempt to reset to factory, the TV itself?

Re: Black Screen Fire TV

Hello, Marisac.

Welcome to our community. That’s quite an inconvenience turning the TV on and off. As our Super User hockeycanuckjc has inquired, reset the TV to factory settings if you haven’t already done so. Let us know if anything changes along with the model number.

Re: Black Screen Fire TV

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion for the factory reset. Unfortunately I did try this and it did not help. Still a black screen when I'm watching Disney+

Re: Black Screen Fire TV

One thing that comes to mind is that the content is HDCP protected and your HDMI cable may not be to output the picture correct due to the copy protection of the videos. But if that were the case, you would receive a message on the screen of such things.

And you did not switch our your cable for another did you ? Just checking.
