I cannot get audio to play through my AV receiver with either the ARC function with a high speeed HDMI cable, or with the optical audio cable.  I've followed the instructions on the manual for the tv and the receiver.  Is there something I'm missing?

It sounds like you've got the wiring part of the installation down. It's certainly strange that there is no audio yet from your AV receiver. Have you ensured that the input selected on the receiver is right as well as the audio output on the TV? This tends to be the most common issue when audio issues arise.
