65 inch vizio p-series with vizio 5.1 surround sound and sound bar

I recently had a 65 inch vizio p-series installed with the vizio 5.1 surround sound.  It was working great the first week but now when i turn the tv on, there is no sound and when i try to adjust the volume it says "your speakers are turned off".  If i play with the audio settings on the tv enough the surround sound will eventually kick on but this is every time the tv turns on.  Any help is much appreciated!  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!  Having a working sound system with your TV is pretty much a necessity, so I'm glad you reached out to us for help.  How is your soundbar connected to your TV?  If you manually power on the soundbar, does it connect to your TV right away?  Does the issue persist with multiple inputs on your TV?

Hello.  The soundbar is connected via the HDMI ARC from the soundbar to the HDMI ARC port in the TV.  I did some research and found a firmware update on the vizio website for the soundbar.  This seemed to correct the issue however, i now feel like im not getting the best picture from the TV.  Any suggestions?

Hey clsturgen,

 

I'm glad to hear a firmware update for the soundbar seems to have fixed that issue.  Can you tell me more about your concerns with the picture quality?  Is the image fuzzy, discolored, or freezing?  Does the issue persist across multiple inputs?

it doesnt seem to be fuzzy or discolored, it just seems a little blurry at times when there are things on the screen in motion and the color isnt as vibrant as when it was first installed.

Hey clsturgen,

 

Do the blurriness and discoloration seem to be a problem with every channel and input, or is it isolated to just one or two?  These issues could the result of a faulty cable, or there may just be some settings on your TV that need a little tweaking.  You can also try to perform a factory reset by following the steps listed in your owner's manual (which can also be found online by searching the TV's model number).
