I purchased rf-g1190speaker cable banana plugs to correct humming from my speakers. I followed directions on attaching the speaker wire to them and got no sound at all. The part that I find somewhat confusing is that I'm supposed to push the wire against a pin, which basically seems impossible.

Hello commervent5-_W,
The speaker wire should be fed through the plug into the middle of the pin. The following directions are the recommended installation steps:

I just purchased these plugs and am concerned with the quality of the connection using only the pin as the connector. Any thoughts?

Hello PeterB,
Thank you for responding!
Of these units that I've worked with in our product lab, provided you don't have a excessively long run of wire hanging directly from the plug, there are no issues. If you do have a long run, you can wire tie the cable to support itself, so that the connecter is not having to support the full weight of the wire.

Hello - i recently purchased the rf-g1190 banana plugs to help with connecting my speakers. I'm relatively new to HT, but when i started to make my speaker wires, i did strip the wire jacket and have exposed copper going into the center pin - do i need to remake my speaker wires with the ends non-exposed, or will leaving the wire as-is be ok? I have not powered anything on yet, and was hoping to get some clarity on this before I did so. Thanks!
