Make sure that the volume on the In-line control unit is not turned down or muted.
Make sure that the All Mute feature is not turned on. When All Mute is turned on, the mute indicator on the In-line control unit lights red. Press the ALL MUTE button (the Rocketfish logo) on the left side of the headset to turn off All Mute. The chat and game audio turn back on and the LED turns off.
Make sure that the sound on the connected device (such as a gaming console, computer, or audio device) is not muted or turned down too low.
Rotate the CHAT/GAME VOLUME control on the In-line control unit towards the chat volume.
Check the game’s audio settings.
Make sure that all connections are correct and secure. Sometimes a cable may appear to be connected but it may not be pressed in all the way.
Twist the tip of the microphone so the sound holes face your mouth.
Position the microphone several inches away from your mouth so it does not overload when you speak. Try to balance the microphone position and the volume setting for optimum voice level.

Make sure the mute indicator on the In-line control unit is not yellow. If the mute indicator is yellow, press the MIC MUTE button on the In-line control unit to restore sound and turn off the mute indicator.
Rotate the CHAT/GAME VOLUME dial on the In-line control unit to adjust the balance between the game volume and the chat volume.
Make sure the USB connector on the In-line control unit cable is connected to your device.
Make sure that all connections are correct and secure. Sometimes a cable may appear to be connected but it may not be pressed in all the way.
Make sure that the microphone isn’t plugged into the Line In port (or vice versa).
Make sure the headphone jack is pushed all the way into the port.
If you’re using an Xbox 360
Make sure the In-line control unit is connected to the Xbox 360 controller using the supplied chat cable.
Try a different Xbox controller.
Try recording a message to a friend by selecting My Friends, Send a Message, then Add Voice. If you can hear yourself, the chat problem could be a game issue, a problem on the recipients end, or some other variable not related to the headset.
Try testing the microphone by connecting the headset to a smartphone and making a test call or recording a memo. If you can hear yourself, the chat problem could be a game issue, a problem on the recipients end, or some other variable not related to the headset.

Plug the microphone into the left or right MIC jack on your headset. Press firmly to make a tight connection.
Plug one end of the black3.5 mm cable into the Line In jack on the left side of your headset and the other end into the In-line control unit.
Plug the USB connector on the In-line control unitcable into a USB port on the computer. The green connector is not used. A message tells you that Windows has discovered a new USB audio device.
Click Start, ControlPanel, click the icon that controls sound and audio devices.
Click the Audio tab.
Make a note of the default devices selected in the Sound playback and Sound recording lists. If you do not want the headset to be the default sound device for Windows sounds, you can reset the default devices to their original settings.
Under Sound playback, make sure the Rocketfish Headset is selected as the default device.
Click Volume, then Options, then click Properties.
Click to check Speaker and Wave, then click OK.
Slide the Speaker and Wave sliders to the maximum settings. These settings determine the volume of the chat you hear. You can use the CHATVOLUME control on the In-line control unit to adjust the chat volume.
Click the X in the upper right corner of the dialog box to close the box.
Under Sound recording, make sure the Rocketfish Headset is selected as the default device.
Click Volume, then slide the Mic Volume slider to the middle setting. This setting determines the volume of your voice that others hear when you speak into the microphone.
Click the X in the upper right corner of the dialog box to close the box.
Click OK to close the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window.
If you do not want the headset to be the default device for Window sounds, go back to the Sounds and Audio Devices dialog box and set the default audio devices for playback and recording back to their original settings.
Close the open dialog boxes. You are done and your headset is ready for use.
