RF-HDMI 4 "Invalid Format" issue

My RF-HDMI 4 outputs to a Westinghouse Model LTV-32w6 HD.

Inputting in input 1 is our HD cable box (Scientific Atlanta Esplorer 4240HDC)

In Input 2 is Roku XD/S Model 2100x

If I power off the Roku and restart it, i'll get an invalid format message on my TV screen at first, but that seems to be a start-up issue. When the Roku is fully up, then everything looks fine on the TV.

For about three or four months after we purchased the RF-HDMI 4, we had no problem with the input from the HD cable box. Now whenever we try to access the non-HDMI (480p content, which includes access to On Demand content and non-HD stations like C-Span), we get that same "Invalid format" message alternating with a non-stable image from the channel we're trying to access. When I connect the cable box direct to the HDMI port on the TV, there is no problem. Why has this stopped working as it once did? Are there workarounds to fix it?

For the record, I've tried plugging the cable box into all the different inputs on the HDMI 4 and none of them resolve the problem. I have also switched out the HDMI cable to rule that out as the cause.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: RF-HDMI 4 "Invalid Format" issue

Hello scaputo,

I would suggest contacting your cable company to see if they have pushed a software update to their cable boxes recently, as that may have caused an issue. You could also take the RF-HDMI4 to the place of purchase, along with the receipt, to obtain warranty service, as the unit has a one year warranty from the date of purchase.
