I have an RF-AHD25 that works fine on the USB port, but is not recognized on the ESATA port. I am running Win 7 on a brand new Dell VOSTRO. I have the RF-AHD25 with the power supply connected. The power light is lit on the external drive. With the UBS cable connected and no ESATA cable connected, the drive is reconized. As soon as I plug in the ESATA cable, the drive disappears. The drive is from an HP laptop that the motherboard went bad.

Apparently I just solved my own problem by using the ESATA cable that came with the RF-AHD25. I was using a brand new 6FT ESATA cable that did not work. Is there any reason a 6FT cable would not work? Or could the cable be deffective?

Hello JoeL,
Welcome to Community@ Rocketfish™!
I agree that the most likely cause is that the cable itself was defective. I am glad to hear however that you have found a resolution.

Tom
