Re: Miracast video receiver not working after firmware upgrade

I have what I assume to be a black box version that I picked up last week at Best Buy for $30 and the MAC ID does not fall within the range for the firmware update, it come before the lowest ID listed.  Do I have an older version of the device?  Should I return this and get a newer version?  I currently have the HTC One, but if I am buying a new device I don't want one that is already not going to be up to date.  Please advise?

Re: Miracast video receiver not working after firmware upgrade

Hello htmiller2000,

The firmware for the RF-WFD301 is only supported by those devices that fall within the Mac address range listed in the installation guide.  What is the MAC address of your Miracast device?

The firmware update simply adds support for additional devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 through certain providers.  If you can get your HTC One to connect to the Miracast receiver there is no need for you to do the firmware update.

Re: Miracast video receiver not working after firmware upgrade

Hello All,

There have been many questions regarding the white boxed version on the RF-WFD301.  This was the first release of the device and did not come with HDCP keys.  What this means is that you are not able to play HDCP copy protected content over the white boxed version of the Miracast Receiver.  HDCP keys can only be added at the factory and there for a firmware update to give the white boxed version HDCP keys is not possible.  At this time there is no plans for a firmware update for the white boxed version of the Miracast Receiver.  The white boxed version will still connect to most Miracast enabled devices and display content that isn't HDCP copy protected content.

Re: Miracast video receiver not working after firmware upgrade

HI

I just bought a miracast MAC 0090A2FF09A8 and I cannot get content from my S4 to play through it. It connects to the device but no content plays... Is there something special I need to do? I updated the firmware but it didn't seem to make a difference... Thanks

Re: Miracast video receiver not working after firmware upgrade

Hello jfrytz,

Welcome to Community@Rocketfish™!

There shouldn't be anything special that you need to do after connecting the devices.  Simply playing the content on the phone should get it to display on the television.  I would suggest disconnecting the two and then connecting the devices again.  The instructions for connecting the Samsung Galaxy S4 can be found below and in the manual on page 69.

Samsung GS4

Re: Miracast video receiver not working after firmware upgrade

Hello jfrytz,

It should be as simply as connecting them and playing content.  I will forward this on the the engineers to see if there is an issue they need to address or if they can suggest some specific settings to use on the RF-WFD301 when connecting with the Galaxy S4.

Re: Miracast video receiver not working after firmware upgrade

Hello jfrytz,

The information I have received so far about connecting the Samsung Galaxy S4 to the RF-WFD301 is that you must have WiFi Connect turned off and Screen Mirroring needs to be turned on.  If I receive more information I update this post to pass it along.

I got to stream via the mirror cast. However once I am streaming a movie it lags out every 5 to 10 minutes, and I tried 3 different movies that all play fine on my phone. I doubt there is any solution to this as I have update it already and the samsung bulit all share cast does not have these problems. Thanks for the help but I think I am going to return it.
