We have sernheiser head phones and discovered that the cables would not work with our new Sony 49" flat Scrren TV. I purchased an Insignia Optical/Coax Digital-Analog Converter  with 4 foot Rocketfish Digital Optical audio cables. The cable end will not insert into the receptical on the back of the TV that shows a picture of headphones. 

What is the problem?

Welcome to our forum, and congratulations on your new Sony TV! I understand you're using an Insignia™ Digital-to-Analog Converter with your TV, but I'm a bit confused where your headphones fit into the picture. Generally, this adapter is used on older models that do not have matching inputs/outputs on both units.

Can you please clarify what devices you're using with the converter and your TV, and how they are connected? The model number of your TV and headphones may be helpful as well. As a side note, your headphones should plug directly into the 3.5mm port on the back of your TV, unless your headphones have a specific type of input.
