This is concerning the iPod Touch 1st Generation and 2nd Generation. My question is, what's the difference between the two of them?

Well, with the exception of price (the first gen is cheaper than the 2nd gen), you're basically getting the same thing with minor differences. I was looking at the 16GB and the 1st gen is priced at $219.99 and the 2nd Gen is priced at $299.99.

Battery life:

On the 1st gen, it's about 22 hours, where as with the 2nd gen, you're looking at closer to 36 hours of music playback or 6 hours of video

System Requirements:

1st gen requires:Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later, Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later; iTunes 7.4 or later; USB 2.0 port 

2nd gen requires: Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later, Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later; iTunes 8 or later; USB 2.0 port

The second gen is also a little more compact than the 1st gen as well.

And if I remember correctly, the 2nd gen also has a built-in speaker for listening to music without the headphones.

now, I know there's more specific differences, but those are just a few, and I'm not a very technical person.

Okay, so basically the systems requirements are the same? Except the iTunes update. And, does the 2nd Gen. provide the built it games only? Or is that both, or none? Also, thanks for the reply about it above.

I'm not entirely sure that there are any built-in games on the 2nd Gen ipod touch. I do know that it has WiFi capabilities, where you can access the App Store and download a TON of free and paid games (through your iTunes account, of course).

I'm not as familiar with the 1st Gen. I THINK it has WiFi as well, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Yeah, they both have WiFi. So, the games I can upload onto my iTouch can be free, but some games I must pay? Or is it all I need to pay for?

If you go through the App Store there are a TON of applications that are free.

If you choose one that is a paid application, you would pay for it through your iTunes account.
