iPod Touch Home Button Issue

Yes, I have an iPod Touch which I just upgraded to the latest 2.2.1 software a few weeks ago. Now my "Home Button" will not take me back to the main screen anymore. I have to completely turn it off and restart it to switch screens and applications.

Do you know how I can fix this? It is becoming a pain to work with.

Thank you in advance.

Re: iPod Touch Home Button Issue

There is a setting to change what the home button does. I believe it is Settings -> General.

Re: iPod Touch Home Button Issue

I tried the Settings then General. However I could not find one to change that.

Is there another way?

Re: iPod Touch Home Button Issue

It's actually at the bottom of the list, but that's to change the action that clicking the home button twice performs.

I'd try completely restoring your iPod through iTunes.

I have restored it completely once so far. Is there a certain way that is to be done besides clicking "restore" in iTunes?

Re: iPod Touch Home Button Issue

I am not sure if this helps, but one of my mom's friends said to place a drop of alcohol (rubbing) just on the button and it will work, or at least it did for hers. So I tried that and it works (for a little while), which has got me to wondering, if it is stuck?

Re: iPod Touch Home Button Issue

That seems kinda odd.

Did you purchase the Geek Squad Black Tie Protection plan?

I am not sure. My mom brought it about a year ago. She said there is a warranty still good on it. Can any best buy fix it?

Re: iPod Touch Home Button Issue

If it is still under warranty, then all you'll need to do is go to a BB and have them send it out for service.

Re: iPod Touch Home Button Issue

So Best Buy does not work on them right in the store? I know I brought my computer from BB and I was told they will work on that right in the store.
