Not dead it just didn't take off like some people originally thought it would.
There are only stations in my area and none of them play music I want to hear. A station I did want to hear quit broadcasting in HD, they only did it for 2 years.
I think a factor kiling it is that car manufacturers didn't put recievers in cars.
