Windows Media Player on Mac

I recently bought the Samsung Clip mp3 player for my dad's birthday and saw that it needed a minimum of Window's XP and Window's Media Player 10 for it to work. At the same time we are in the process of buying a new computer...a Mac desktop. Is there a way to have the Samsung synch/work with our new Mac using Quicktime (which is already installed on the desktop) or a way to download Window's Media Player onto the Mac to have the Samsung be compatible???

Hello Windy26,

You ask a very good question!  Most of the time, if the product specs say that it needs a certain operating system and software in order to function, it won’t work on another platform.  Even though Window Media Player is available for Mac, it’s a much different application than on PC with limited functionality.  You may certainly install Media Player on the Mac and see if you can use the Clip, but the Mac may not recognize the mp3 player.

The short answer is that you will probably have to hook your player to a PC running Windows XP or Vista with Media Player 10 just as the specs state.  Unless products say under system requirements that they're Mac compatible, often they aren’t.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Alright, that definitely make sense.

We have a PC with an older version of Windows Media Player...where can I go to install Windows Media Player 10?

Re: Windows Media Player on Mac

Hello again Windy26,

Windows Media Player is available through Microsoft's website.  Follow the link under "Downloads & Trials" and you should find what you need!
