This seems you have a Norton as an anti virus. Well, if it does have conflict problems with Norton, have you tried installing and uninstalling the ipod tunes? I have a Norton before but my itunes worked well in my pc. Sorry if I was not much of a help.

Hello jenbear,
I'm sorry to hear about the troubles with your iPod Nano. I researched the issue and did find that there was a software conflict with Norton Anti-virus and some iPods, but it appears that was resolved a long time ago my Norton.
I would recommend the following: make sure that your Norton software is up-to-date. Also, download and install the latest version of iTunes (if you haven't already). It's usually a good idea to restart your computer after a new installation. If these two actions don't resolve the issue, try Apple's troubleshooting tips, found here. If the problem is still not resolved, you may need to consult Apple for additional assistance.
I hope this helps. Thanks for writing!
