Howdy lptoews,
I’m sorry to hear that your iPod Nano is giving you fits. That’s a frustration that no one needs, especially from an item that supposed to be fun!
According to Apple’s limited warranty for iPod, you may seek covered service for up to one year through Apple for any manufacturer-related defect. If you purchased a Product Replacement Plan (PRP) through Best Buy®, you may contact 888-539-6883 or visit your local store with your purchase receipt and the product for further assistance. Otherwise, you may contact Apple at 800-MY-APPLE (800-492-7753) for service under the manufacturer’s warranty.
I should point out, since you mention “smashing it around” and not knowing what exactly that means, that any damage to the unit would not be covered under PRP or the manufacturer’s warranty.
I hope this helps and thanks for writing!
