IPOD Classic 160GB Portable Sound Dock Compatability

I just bought a IPOD Classic 160GB and I am looking a portable sound dock  to play it on.  I really like the Bose Portable Sound Dock ($299.00) but I am getting mixed information that it is probably not compatible with my IPOD.  How do I know what portable sound dock is compatible or best to play with my IPOD?  How do I know whether my IPOD is 30 pin, 5th, 4th 3rd generation, etc.?

Re: IPOD Classic 160GB Portable Sound Dock Compatability

Hi Pocster,

An iPod Classic that’s 160GB was first released in 2007 and hasn’t changed much since. As I understand it, the Bose SoundDock has some compatibility issues with some of the newer iPod products (iPod Touch 5th Gen, iPhone 5, iPod Nano 7th Gen), but older versions of these and an iPod Classic should work just fine.

Cheers,

I just purchased an Ipod Classic 160GB and a Bose Sound Dock II and they work great together. It will not dock correctly if you have a case though.

You can directly check to the store if the Bose Sound Dock is compatible to your iPod.

Personally I think BOSE sounds great when you have the freedom to turn the sound up. I have always found BOSE lacking at lower volumns
