80G IPod Classic problems

I've had my IPod for a little over a year, and when I bought it I naturally got the 3 year warranty on it because I wanted it just in case something happened. Well yesterday at work I had turned to get a file and when I did I pulled the IPod with me and it fell to the floor. I have had it fall on the ground before but it always works. But yesterday was a whole different story, it froze on me. It wouldn't do anything so I got on Google to see what I could do to fix it. I found that if you hold down the menu and the select button it would reset. It did but all I get is a white screen with nothing showing, I can hear music if I hit play but I can't see anything. Now that I've described what is wrong with my IPod here's my real question.

Yes I did get the extended warranty but I am unable to find it. I moved last year and I have lost the receipt when I bought it. I still have the box and everything but I need to know what I need to do about getting it fixed. Is there anyway that they can look in there system to see that I did indeed purchase the IPod and the warranty?

Ok thanks for the help!

Do you know if I will have to wait for a refurbished IPod to get sent to me or are there some at the store?

Re: 80G IPod Classic problems

You have a Service Plan, so your iPod will have to be sent out to the service center to be diagnosed. If it's economically feasible to fix, it'll be fixed. Otherwise, they'll diagnose it as "exchange in store" and you can get a replacement iPod not exceeding the original purchase price.

Actually most iPods have a Rapid Exchange option, in which a brand new refurbished iPod would be sent straight to the store for you. You can still opt for the service though if you really like the one you have Smiley Tongue

Yeah I forgot to mention that. RE takes 3-5 business days. It's been so long since I sold mp3 players.

Re: 80G IPod Classic problems

I went up there Friday and I had no problems at all. They are sending that one up to get wiped out and fixed and they are sending a refurbished one to me but they will call me and let me know when it is here. They said about a week to a week and a half. I may go through withdrawals but I can handle it.

I was just worried bc I didn't have my receipt that I wouldn't be able to get it fix/exchanged but I had no problem, they actually printed me out a receipt for me to have since I lost the other one. I don't know the lady's name that I dealt with but she was really helpful.
