2005 iPod when I turn it on it shows go to iTunes to restore that’s all it will do

That literally means you need to plug it into a computer with iTunes. However beings that it's a 2005 I dont think it will be compatible with the app store or anything.

I had to get a new iPad becuase my iOS was to old

 

2005. You got a good run out of it thats for sure.

As nckhammond mentioned, it sounds like you just need to plug it into a computer to sync with iTunes. Did this work for you? 2005, wow. What a simpler time.
