"Unable to Register Plan. A user profile with this email already exists." but profile does not exist

Hello!

 

I have been trying to register a Geek Squad plan on the Geek Squad website and have come into a hiccup. I found my plan using the SKU and 4 part code, but when I go to register a new geek squad account with my email to connect the to plan, it gives me this error.

 

"Unable to Register Plan. A user profile with this email already exists."

 

I was sure that I did not have a Geek Squad profile, but to make sure, I go to "Login" and use the forgot password function to try and recover the account. However, when I try this using the exact same email address as I had used above, I get this error":

 

"Unable to update password. User Name Error"

 

I've tried with several alt-emails that certainly could not have been used for Geek Squad and get the same 2 errors. As well, I have tried in private browsers and alternative browsers besides chrome. Nothing has worked, so I am sort of stuck in registering my coverage. Could someone look into this for me? Thanks

While I'm glad to hear you were able to identify the email address that should be associated with your plan and account, I'm sorry to hear you're having such difficulties accessing the account. While I can't say for sure without taking a deeper dive into this, this is typically encountered if you've previously had an account, but haven't accessed it in some time, causing it to be retired.
