Just issued $10 in rewards points and find out you can't apply them at the same time as a discount code. My code was for 20% off. Called customer service to either apply to my order or return my points to my account. They said No you have to cancel the order and you can use one or the other. What the heck it didn't say that when I went to issue the certificate. The gentleman on the phone could barely speak English, his computer wasn't even showing the issuing of the certificate because he was in another country. BUYER BEWARE, Best Buy is going back to the 90's of POOR customer service. Guess I'll be moving on to AMAZON. Shame on them!!! I earned those points, I realize it's only $10 bucks but honestly it costs WAY more than that to retain a customer.

Welcome to the Best Buy forum.
A certificate and discount coupon can definitely be applied to the same purchase. I currently have a 10% off coupon that I intend to use with a $5 certificate once I finally make up my mind as to what I want to purchase. Making a decision can sometimes be the toughest part. The only thing that might prevent that combination is if the coupons discount were to drop the pre-tax total below the certificates value. Basically, the pre-tax total after the coupon is applied would need to be at least $10 for a $10 certificate to be applied.
It sounds like the order you are wanting to apply the coupon and certificate to has already been submitted, which will cause a problem. Unlike in-store where an exchange can be processed, an online order would need to be cancelled and resubmitted in-order to apply an additional form of payment. And depending on how long ago your order was placed, cancelling it may not even be an option anymore. As far as the $10 certificate, it cannot be converted back into points once having been issued. Just keep in mind that a certificate is generally valid for a period of 60 days unless noted otherwise.
With that all having been said, I would like to take a closer look at your rewards account with you to ensure it is up-to-date and to see if there are any other questions I can perhaps answer. I will need to gather some additional information from you before I can do that though, so I will be sending you a private message shortly. You can read private messages by first logging into the forum and then clicking on the little envelope icon at the top of the page. I look forward to further speaking with you.
