You took away my points On Christmas Day

As I see from other posts, I am not the only one who was unaware, that after all of these years, that points now have expiration points. Best Buy took 232 points from me on Christmas Day.

I have just recently bought a brand new 55 inch TV from Best Buy and today, during the 2x points sale, I have bought a 10TB hard drive. This is when I have discovered my previous points had been taken away from me.

This is very frustrating and I just dont understand why I never received notification of the new rules. I was excited to finally being able to afford enough purchases for my rewards to start adding up, I wish I had known this sooner.

Re: You took away my points On Christmas Day

Hi, tgc76,

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums! Thanks for writing in to us today.

I apologize for any confusion in regards to your My Best Buy points. Our My Best Buy program is a great way to earn certificates to gain some extra savings on future purchases. I'm sorry for any disappointment that this has caused you.

My understanding is that, per the My Best Buy Program Terms, if an account goes unused for 12 months, any points that may have been earned would be forfeited. Do you think it was a year or more since you had last earned points prior to your most recent visits?

Thanks,

Re: You took away my points On Christmas Day

Again, when these rules changed, I was not aware of it. I thought I could hold my points until I was able to make more purchases. Having an expiration date defeats the purpose. I really wish I had known this before I made my recent purchases there, I did it thinking I could add those points and what I already had together.

This just isn't worth it.

Re: You took away my points On Christmas Day

tgc76,

I believe that point forfeiture for inactive accounts has been a part of our Program Terms since 2013. I apologize if this was somehow missed prior to your recent visit, and can understand feeling disappointed, provided you were under the impression that the points would still be there for your most recent purchase. I would be happy to review your account and make sure that nothing unexpected happened with it. If this is something that you would be interested in, please send a Private Message with your full name, email address, and phone number. You can find a link to send a Private Message in my signature.

Thanks,
