Time to Go

Hello,

Had some questions about points since Best Buy has gone and removed more features/benefits from their reward program that now make it basically pointless to continue to go out of the way to use them.

First question is what do I have to do to get points back that were removed in error during a return? Meaning that u received let's say 500 points for a purchase but the item had to be returned and I had 700 points taken from me. How did they take extra points away on the same transaction amount?

Second question, now that elite plus membership is gone I want to use all my points up. Is there a limit to how many certificates can be used on a single transaction? I am thinking of purchasing a OLED TV. I have $4,300 in rewards but if they can only be cashed out at $100 max per certificate, would I be able to use 43 certificates on a single transaction without there being errors and issues making my store visit a bigger headache than it tends to be like when I do price matches and end up waiting for 20 minutes as they call a Code 6 on me for each item and have to verify the match with 15 different devices?

Last question, if you are basically heading towards deleting the reward program all together why should people continue to go out of their way to shop with you when there is no benefit to the consumer to pick you over another retailer or local business? Your return policy has less time, you offer no perks like points, special sales and bonus offers gone, lack of training or upkeep on current technology that you carry making it so a associate will refer us to "google" a review video or article to read, varying scales of store appearance that is not uniform and shows lack of quality/care and the list can go on.

I'm sure someone will copy and paste a policy in response or give the same tried and true answer about listening to this feedback and taking it in to consideration and so on so not really sure why I bothered to say anything but had some time and remember places like Circuit City, Tweeter, CompUSA and HiFi Sales and thought to ask before you maybe head in that direction.

Re: Time to Go

It's a sinking ship at #worst buy. They went from my first choice in electronic purchases to dead last when they took my elite plus away from me. I will not pay for total tech membership.

Your best bet is to find something you want and cash in those certificates before they expire. I know you could use multiple certificates on a single transaction. That may have changed since they dropped elite & elite plus.

Even worse, posts like this just get ignored or deleted. Radio silence this whole time, even when people have actual questions about it. The mods haven't acknowledged any criticism of the rewards program change since it was announced back in March and somehow seem oblivious to it, based on the response to this post.

You should be able to use multiple certificates as long as the value doesn't exceed the purchase's subtotal (i.e. 42 $100 certficates and one $95 certificate for a $4299.99 item), it'd probably be easier to keep track of them if you do it as an online order though.

Re: Time to Go

As an Elite Plus member also, I'm confused by Best Buy's actions.

It wasn't long ago that Best Buy was in dire straights financially. They seemed on the verge of bankruptcy. Then they turned things around and things seemed great. They bought Magnolia Audio and openned Magnolia high end audio stores in their stores. I actually spent about $6k in Magnolia.

Now things are headed back down...why? You did away with the Elite and Elite Plus member programs essentially eliminating your high spend customer benefits and now you are closing down Magnolia audio. Why is your company so poorly run?

Very disappointing...

Re: Time to Go

Update as of today when I just tried to sign on I no longer have a best buy account it seems which means my over $4200 in points have now all disappeared. This is just awesome. Not sure if I will be able to speak to someone/anyone who can help/assist me but obviously I am quite upset and teed off now. Was preparing to go drive to one of their warehouses as that was the only place that had the tv I wanted and was told to go to a store/location to make sure there was no issues in using my points but as of right now apparently I do not have points or a account so just fantastic. Hey Best Buy this is not acceptable at all in any sense. I want to speak to someone immediately not a normal associate but like a actual manager that will hopefully be able to do something because this is just plain ridiculous
