Hi I made some very large purchases a few months ago and even got the BB credit card to get the points. I was otherwise new to BB and the point system. But I go to login today and notice the issued certificates are already expired by a few weeks? I never told it to issue me reward certificates in the first place and it wasn't told to me at anytime that would happen. I planned to do some more shopping at Best Buy for the holidays and using these credits would have helped a lot. I believe it was a total of $190 worth of expired credits. Why does it auto-issue certificates and why wasn't that mentioned to me anywhere? I do not recall any emails stating that neither unfortunately. Could you please look in this for me? Thank you.

Good afternoon awinters80,
Welcome to the forum! After shopping with us a few months ago for some larger purchases, I'm sure you were excited to return to us this holiday season to use the My Best Buy rewards you had received. Nearly $200 in certificates could certainly help with anyone's holiday shopping, so I can imagine how dismayed you may have been find they had been issued and expired.
As a default setting, My Best Buy memberships automatically issue certificates after you have a minimum point value to issue a $5 certificate (250 points). If you have enough points for a larger amount, the largest certificate possible will be issued. You may adjust this certificate preference by logging into BestBuy.com, and at the Elite or Elite Plus level, even receive the benefit of banking your points. Banking your points allows you to save your points, and issue certificates when you're ready to redeem them.
Once certificates are issued though, they're typically valid for 60 days unless otherwise noted, per our My Best Buy Terms. Once expired, we’re generally unable to reissue them. We do our best to make our customers aware a certificate has been issued, and when it expires, as we send out email notifications when one has been issued. As emails may be filtered, overlooked, or even blocked though, we recommend members manage their rewards from BestBuy.com, where certificates can be viewed as well. For more details, you may view the article below.
I would be happy to take a look at your membership to see if there are any setting changes we can update for you to help prevent such things from occurring in the future. Please keep an eye on your inbox in the top right corner of the page for my private message.
