The fact that your credit card rewards are redeemed for a "certificate" that expires is absurd. I cannot think of a single other credit card reward system that uses a temporary reward. Cashback rewards are just that, they are CASH BACK to the customer for making a purchase. The fact that you can "take them away" as if it was yours to begin with is ridiculous. "Here's your reward, our gift to you. Oh it's been a month, let me just reach in your wallet and take that back"..... Makes NO sense.
I would like my unused rewards returned to my account, especially considering this COVID 19 situation, you expect people to utilize rewards within a specific timeframe during a pandemic? Do you understand how insulting that is to a customer? Your 10% back credit card promo and the standard 5% back on the card are incredibly deceptive. A credit card % back reward has ALWAYS been stored on the account, redeemable for cash or other rewards, building up over time. This is the first time I've ever seen a temporary CC reward like this. Craziness...
I'm hoping that you can return my unused rewards to my account, especially considering how difficult this pandemic has made "shopping" for the average customer and how much financial impact it has had on the average, everyday person. Money means a lot right now for a lot of people, more than normal. And you have decided to take away rewards from people? Cashback that is rightfully theirs?
I'd like my money back.

Good morning, hunchy95,
Welcome to the forum, and thank you for reaching out regarding your expired My Best Buy certificate. I understand you were caught by surprise to find your rewards were issued and expired, which I can understand how that would be frustrating. It sounds like you may be relatively new to our program, so I would be delighted to share some additional information with you.
Per our Credit Cards page, our 10% back on your first day of purchases (5% back regularly) is back in rewards, not cashback. Under our My Best Buy Terms, these rewards points may be redeemed for certificates which are ultimately coupons for discounts on purchases. Just like most coupons, these do come with expiration dates. My Best Buy certificates typically have 60 days to be redeemed, unless otherwise noted. We do our best to keep our customers informed on the issuance of certificates, so typically you'll receive an email notification about it, which includes the expiration date. Of course, emails can be easily missed, filtered, or even blocked, so it is always recommended that members manage their rewards from BestBuy.com.
While we know COVID-19 has caused a great many adjustments, including many of our stores closing to customers, BestBuy.com has remained operational. As our certificates are able to be redeemed online and in stores, these expiration dates were not extended. For more information, you may wish to review the links below.
With that said, I would be happy to review your account with you to ensure you are setup for success with our program. Please keep an eye on your inbox in the top right corner of the page for my private message.
