Elite member here. The changes to the MyBestBuy program includes the fact that we no longer receive points for purchasing Apple and Beats products.

As a matter of fact, the majority of items I purchase from Best Buy are Apple and Beats products. BestBuy’s promise of “member only”‘pricing rings hollow because I have gotten to avail myself of sales in the past and also received points which created a nice incentive to purchase at Best Buy instead of other retailers.

The incentive to shop at Best Buy is now gone. Instead of purchasing these items at Best Buy in the future, I’ll get a Price Match at Target if something is found cheaper and then use my RedCard to get the 5 percent discount. Also, in Target, you can purchase gift cards and get 5% if you use your RedCard to purchase gift cards.

Best Buy Unfortunately now is no longer a “Best Buy”.


And...no...I don’t want the BestBuy credit card again. I opened a Best Buy Visa Card with CITI - the customer service from CITI is rude. I think personally Best Buy is declining more and more. Two stores in my area closed recently. Direct phone numbers for stores are being routed to third party agents that are not in the United States and it is impossible to reach a store directly. A chat agent said to email a store. I emailed three stores and finally got one call from one of the three stores I emailed. It’s falling downhill in my opinion.

There are a lot of great rewards programs out there and I certainly understand wanting to get the most out of any that you choose to use. I will certainly record your feedback about the My Best Buy program here at the corporate level so that it can be available internally as we consider how best to serve our customers going into the future.

Regarding one point of the feedback you provided, I do want to provide some clarification to ensure you're aware that My Best Buy members can currently receive points for the purchase of Apple and Beats products so long as they are purchased with standard credit with the My Best Buy Credit Card. Otherwise, members would not receive points for such purchases. From your post, I understand that you do not wish to have a My Best Buy Credit Card due to previous experiences, so that would understandably impact this outcome. Either way, you can learn more about the benefits of the My Best Buy program by reviewing the My Best Buy Frequently Asked Questions page, or the Terms of the My Best Buy Program.
