Rewards Points Stolen

[ Edited ]

I've had a best buy credit card for years and I've never used any rewards points. I just recently bought a TV from best buy and was told I should check to see how many points I have since it should be a fair amount off my next purchase. When I signed in I only saw $10 worth of rewards. I delved further to find repeated reward certificates taken out of my account over the last 2 years. I changed my password but how do I get those points back? I wasnt alerted via email that rewards were being taken or anything.

Thanks,

Re: Rewards Points Stolen

Good afternoon and welcome, Tyler!

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your points! Logging into BestBuy.com expecting to find a few years worth of rewards only to find $10 would be dismaying to say the least.

With that said, as a default setting, certificates are automatically issued after you've accrued enough for a $5 certificate (250 points). You may change this minimum certificate amount, or even select to bank your points if you're an Elite or Elite Plus member. Banking is an optional benefit extended to our Elite or Elite Plus members that allows you to save your points rather than have certificates automatically issued. As an optional benefit though, one must log into BestBuy.com to update this preference once Elite or Elite Plus status is reached.

Given this information, it actually sounds like your certificates were automatically issued and expired. Our My Best Buy Terms advise that certificates typically have 60 days to be redeemed, unless otherwise noted. Once expired, we’re generally unable to reissue them. We do our best to make our customers aware a certificate has been issued, as we send out email notifications that include the expiration date, as you discovered. As emails may be filtered, overlooked, or even blocked though, we recommend members manage their rewards from BestBuy.com, where certificates can be viewed as well. For more details, you may view the article below.

I would like to review this further with you though to ensure this is what happened, so I am sending you a private message. Please keep an eye on your inbox in the top right corner of the page for my message.

Sincerely,
