Rewards Cert rules NOT mentioned at checkout at all - LOST MONEY

On 7/13/2019 I made a purchase and used $50 in rewards. I had to return that item today. Today is when I found that $30 of the rewards were a promor for spending $300 on my credit card outside Best Buy. WHen I checked out the sales person asked if i wanted to use my $50 in rewards and did NOT mention they were different and with different rules. Absolutely no disclosure provided. I attempted to get help from the store. The supervisor on duty told me there is nothing he will do and laid my receipt down and walked away. The manager at stoe 421, Tim also refused to do anything about my $30 reward. I was even willing to simply have them take $30 off the item I wanted to buy. They refused that and said customer service needs to address it.

Well, after two calls to them and two hang ups as well as being told the store needs to address it, I am beyond appaled that this is the service being provided. After digging in the knowledge bas, I finally found the random hidden rule Best Buy is holding on to. What if I redeemed a bonus or free promotional reward certificate? It does say you will lose it. This is not at the store level and the cashier has cost me $30 dollars. All I want is $30 back in my account for my next purchase. No customer should have to spend this much time asking to be treated fairly. This tatic seems to be a fight to hold on to every customer dollar taken and provide no service.

Re: Rewards Cert rules NOT mentioned at checkout at all - LOST MONEY

Hi, careves2,

Welcome to Best Buy’s online Community, and thank you for being a valued My Best Buy member. One of the biggest perks of being a My Best Buy member is all the certificates obtained after building up your points. I can understand the confusion of missing out on some certificates after you recently made a return.

As a My Best Buy member, you also get visibility on numerous promotions, which most of them are featured in an email sent to you by Best Buy or Citibank. I would like to understand more about the concerns that have brought you to the forum, and I want to invite you to send me a private message when you get the opportunity. In the message include your full name, email address, phone number, and member ID. To send me the message, log into the forum, and select the Private Message option from my signature.

Good day,
