Reward certificate from Citi not returned to account after defective return.

Hello,

 

I recently had a promotional gift certificate from Citi and used it on a purchase for a Nintendo Switch Lite. I had to return the Switch due to display issues. I was told by the Brst Buy employee that the gift certificate would go back to my account. The certificate had an expiration date of 5/31/2020. I have just started going through the forums and noticed this is a problem of certificates not being returned to accounts. Is there something that can be done? I have been loyal elite customer for years.

 

 

Please let me know what can be done.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your promotional My Best Buy certificate! I know receiving this is exciting to begin with, but the real excitement is in their redemption. I always hope that customer purchases work out, so I'm sorry to hear you had some display issues with your Nintendo Switch Lite. 

As you may have discovered looking at our forum, reward certificates are typically credited within just a few days. It sounds like this is the information mentioned to you by our associate in stores during your return. With that said, promotional certificates are intended to be one-time use coupons, and are not credited. They are easily identified as they have no associated point value (which is ultimately what is credited for returned certificates), and typically have shorter redemption periods, closer to 30 days, rather than the usual 60.
