Re: No progress towards Elite Plus for Outside Bestbuy purchases.

I’m having the same problem. Under the new credit card (the Citi Visa) it says that non-Best Buy purchases count toward the elite and elite plus statuses. This was a change when the cards were upgraded.

Re: No progress towards Elite Plus for Outside Bestbuy purchases.

Greetings morsebs138,

This has probably been my worst showing to date when it comes to qualifying for Elite status.  While I always tend to fall short of the mark, I at least get very close.  This year was different.  My wife has been looking at a new oven and dishwasher, so I could potentially have Elite status for the first time in 2019.  I will keep my fingers crossed!  As far as qualifying for Elite status, you would need to spend $1,500 on eligible purchases within a single calendar year.  That total goes up to $3,500 for Elite Plus status.

There are two ways to qualify when a member has a My Best Buy™ Visa credit card.  First, spend the required amount solely at Best Buy using any eligible form of payment (credit, debit, cash, check).  That would include the Visa card.  Second, spend the required amount solely using the Visa card.  That would include purchases made at Best Buy and outside of Best Buy.  The totals for solo Best Buy purchases and solo Visa purchases are not combined.  You should see the higher of the two totals displayed in your spending bar on BestBuy.com.

It can generally take up to 20 days for an eligible purchase to be reflected within a member's spending bar.  Any purchases displayed as pending in your rewards account are not likely reflected yet.  Also, purchases made outside of Best Buy with a Visa are likely to reflect after the end of each billing cycle.  Hopefully, that helped answer your questions. Re: No progress towards Elite Plus for Outside Bestbuy purchases.

That is probably the most ignorant policy I have ever heard of. Why wouldn’t it be combined? When a I read about it when’s i first got the new card, it made it sound like you just needed to spend $3500.
