I agree! I used a gift card for a purchase and I never dreamed that they would make that negate the rewards. I now am questioning whether-or-not I want to be a Best Buy customer. That really put a sour taste in my mouth.

I feel like Best Buy needs to be more trasparent about telling rewards members that using a gift card will cause them not to collect reward points. Finding out after the fact (really, who read the terms and conditions when signing up) really makes me feel negative about my purchase experience. It would seem that Best Buy would factor that into their marketing or program details or something. Ick!

Good Afternoon, Tweter2,
Welcome to our community and thank you for being a loyal Best Buy customer. We appreciate the time you’ve taken share with us regarding your thoughts about spending gift cards and not receiving points towards our My Best Buy program. I’d be happy to shed some light on to this for you.
Our My Best Buy program is intended to reward our customers for choosing Best Buy. Specifically, the terms are set up to reward the purchaser. In this case it would be the original purchaser of the gift card. I apologize if you feel the terms could be better communicated and we sincerely appreciate your feedback. You’re more than welcome to review the terms of our My Best Buy in full here. We also have a FAQ section that may make it easier to wade through the details included in the terms. Additionally, at the time of signing up the terms of our program these terms were agreed upon. Let us know if you have any questions about the information provided in either of those links I shared with you!
