Re: Elite Plus Canceled - new return policy

I just bought a laptop from BB less than a month ago and was thinking today that I was going to return it and buy one that is double the price because I'm not happy with the performance.  I've enjoyed 45 day return policy for years as I have been an elite member every year since they started the program.  I easily spend between 5-10k a year at BB.  I send tons of people there for the same reason, great return policy.

So I checked my account today and all mention of elite or any levels at all is gone.  I remember when they started pre-charging people to return items (i think it's called total tech or something) because I was going to buy a $2000 camera but wasnt sure I would like the new mirrorless digital cameras so I just asked about the returns because cameras have always been funny.  That's the first time I heard that BB is no pre-charging for the ability to return items.  Needless to say,  I didn't buy it.  The rest of the returns were the same at the time.

Here I am today with a laptop that is not performing as expected and I'm stuck with it.  I normally would have another 15 days to return it.  The last reason to buy products at BB is now gone.

As a side note, the elite membership was rewarding people that spend a bunch of money in your stores.  It was the one thing that kept me coming back.  But now I guess I will just use Amazon.  They ships WAY faster.  The returns are almost as easy if not easier since the dropoff location is close.  The prices are the same if not better.  Remind me again why I should buy anything at BB again?  Someone upstairs should rethink this policy.

Re: Elite Plus Canceled - new return policy

Yes but totaltech cost what? $145 a year or is it more? I don't even understand what the real benefits are beyond a better return window and that best buy seems to put PC hardware, especially that which is aimed at gamers behind this paywall and scalpers exploit that like crazy..Even if they had to buy a new membership for ever rtx 4090 they would still make a profit.

How does it benefit the average person? It just seems crazy that despite being a card holder which essentially ensures I spend more money per year at best buy (and I do since getting it, I went from maybe $300 avg every other year to now $6000+ per year but someone who pays this fee gets treated twice as good...

Best buy is basically the only electronics store around where I live other than mom & pops who don't get inventory on something like a graphics card until it's been out for 6 months. It's odd considering we live in a tech focused area but that's not best buys doing/fault.

The shrinking return policy just cost me just shy of $300 too. I accidentally bought 2 of an item, it was ram (DDR5) and I thought I had 30 days then I logged into the site and it said I had till the next day except I was 1000 miles from home visiting family...

So I bought a new $550 CPU, a new $175 pc case, 2 2TB Samsung m.2 980 pro's $229 each, a 8TB Seagate barracuda hard drive that was around $200 and 32 gigs of DDR5 around $260 then another $260 for 32 gigs I can't use because I thought I forgot I had got it and was in a rush so ordered it so it would arrive before I had to go on a trip thinking I would have 30 days so it's fine.

So many issues with this program and I realize it's to raise profits and I have no issue with that except when it also hurts loyal customers that's not right. A program like that should add value absolutely but it shouldn't take value from everyone else and it does.

I'm sorry for going on and on. Its been a really bad week so I'm just venting because this recent change is worrying. What happens if numbers don't go up? Lower the regular return policy to 7 days and don't let people buy the best model TV's until they have been out for a few months because I have upgraded my 65" LG C Series OLED at best buy almost every year since 2016. I bought the Cx and 7-8 months later bought the C1. Yes that's my choice but I'd like to have it remain that way.

I appreciate your time, thanks you for listening.
