Just got a Best Buy card and noticed that when I'm shopping, if I use it I'll get bonus reward certificates if I pay with it. My question is, if I were to use those certificates (if they're even issued before the return policy window closes) and then return the item I purchased, does my reward point bank go into the negative?

If you happen to return an item you earned rewards on, after using those rewards, this may cause your point balance to go negative.
