Problem with Reward Certificates

I am trying to figure out why I just had points auto redeemed for a reward certificate.  I am a my best buy member, and also a credit card holder.  So from my understanding it was supposed to allow me to keep banking my points.

When I go in and check, I don't even see this option.  I posted on twitter about it, and saw countless credit card holders with that option.  Is my account glitched? What gives?  I didn't want to redeem 1000 points for a reward certificate.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Problem with Reward Certificates

Hi there, justinTlME,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us here on Best Buy Forums. As a My Best Buy Cardholder myself, I can certainly understand wanting to ensure your points are being banked correctly.

In order to set up Point Banking, you need to log into your My Best Buy account using the Best Buy App or by signing into your account on a web/mobile browser:

1) On the Best Buy App, click on "Account" on the bottom right. Then, scroll to "Rewards" and click on it. Under "Reward Certificates", you should see an option that says "Point Banking" with the option to change it next to the text.

-OR-

2) On a web/mobile browser, visit BestBuy.com and sign into your My Best Buy account. Next, click on "Account" and look for "Manage Your Rewards". There should be an option that says "Point Banking" with the option to change it next to the text.

Hope this helps!

Re: Problem with Reward Certificates

Thanks Ravi.  Yeah, that's the weird part. I swore it was there before when you guys changed it (I was always banking) but that option is NOT there anymore. No choices, nothing. No clue what glitch is going on here.

Re: Problem with Reward Certificates

Didn't think anything of it either when I had a reward auto issue but now I noticed they changed the whole program. They totally nerfed the entire rewards tiers and benefits. Part of that overhaul caused the rewards to auto issue. Its trash now though, a measly half point per dollar spent vs if you had an elite tier it was 1.25 points per dollar spent. Honestly, after that change I wont be renewing my total tech subscription either. Bad call by whomever made that decision in corporate.

Re: Problem with Reward Certificates

So, if you’re a credit card holder it’s not supposed to auto award. That’s my issue.
