Not receiving verification code

Hi,

 

When I was making a purchase, a "verification code sent to email" message appeared.

 

waited for an hour. Tried a few times to resend. Never receive the email to the email address.

 

 

tried all measures suggested on the official website. Not working.

 

very frustrating and time consuming just to make purchases

 

 

Can anyone fix this asap? I saw that many other members experienced this issue as well

Instead of starting a new thread for the exact same problem, I decide to add to this one.

 

There is another thread 7 pages long, and apparently closed, that is filled with people complaining of this very problem.  Even though the moderator marked the issue as "solved," it's obvious the problem persists for many, if not most. 

 

So, Best Buy, what else can we do on our end to "fix" our problem? Obviously, the recommendations from previous threads/posts have not worked for us. 

 

It should not be rocket science to receive an email from Best Buy with a verification code, a code that allows its users to see and manage their rewards points, among other perks. This seems to be a very common problem plaguing users as far back as 2020. It makes one wonder just how many users have been 'locked out' of their Best Buy perks. I really hope this isn't the case, but what else are we to conclude after seeing so many with this same problem never receiving any real resolution?

 

Please, Best Buy, you really need to do better than this. The amount of frustration your customers are experiencing is inexcusable.

Thanks for reaching out about the difficulties that you've had with trying to receive a verification code from our website. I can understand that seeing the other post marked as solved, while the issue still persists for some would be confusing.

 

I'm not certain which thread you were talking about, but there are several types of verification scenarios that may be encountered on our website. When a thread is marked solved, this could either be done by another user that felt the response solved their particular issue, or we've provided steps that need to be taken to resolve the issue or reach someone who can help. We are aware of some verification situations also when buying some of the hotter items, which is usually a result of the items selling out very quickly. 

 

That said, I'd be happy to review your account to see if I can find anything out about why you're not getting the verification emails. I see that you've also sent some private messages about this, so I will be reaching out there shortly.

Guys,

 

DON'T EVEN BOTHER trying to find a fix. 

 

I spent numerous hours with different "support teams" and they kept on repeating "solutions" that never worked. 

 

The only way around it, is to open a new account. This is the only solution that provided that worked. 

 

Some email addresses cannot receive verification codes. 

 

Major flaw of best buy system. No one is able to fix it. 

 

Again, DON'T waste time trying to find a solution. Most solutions did not work in my case. I cannot receive the verification code. I have not been able to access my old account anymore.

Not so fast, wolfwolflol! 

After sending a private message to Melissa-BBY (above), she was able to find a solution for me (within 24 hours!). It turns out that there was a very old email address, one that I haven't used in over 10 years, still linked to my account.

After Melissa kindly removed the old email from my account, I was then given two options when I went to login, again. The first option was to use my "Google Account." The second option was to simply use my @gmai email address. Now, one might think using your Gmail email address to login to a website is the same as using your "Google Account." I really don't think that is true. Regardless, I chose option two as I had only ever used my gmail email address and had never selected to use my "Google Account." Next, I landed on the all too familiar "Enter the Verification Code" page. Normally, this would be the end of the process, never receiving that cursed code. However, this time, and thanks to Melissa-BBY's help... Ta-Da!!! Within five seconds, I received the email with the code. After entering the code, I was then logged in where I was able to see all of my past purchases, rewards points, etc., things I had never been able to access before. 

 

So, please don't give up hope if you're in a similar situation as mine. Take the time to reach out to Melissa-BBY. As mentioned in another thread, you need to send her your name, telephone number, home address, and email address. She is very kind and will do whatever she can to help get you past this "Verification Code" issue. I really don't know why Best Buy has such a complicated system, but for now, it is what it is.

I know there's several things that can cause these verification issues, but it is often related to having more than one profile or account on file with us. Whenever possible, I and my fellow specialists on here will do what we can to find out what's causing the issue and will do what we can to assist.

wolfwolflol is correct!

 

After several "trials" with BB customer support trying several different emails using smaller, less known email domains, the only one that worked for me was a gmail acount. (I own several domains and none worked). BB is only whitelisting specific domains--everyone else is blacklisted. BTW, BB cusomer support has no knowledge of this issue--they don't know why some domains and others do not. (They claim they are escalating this issue--I have no confidence BB will make any changes.) I've had the same problem with Delta Airlines and Sirius/Xm (maybe they are all using the same email service behind the scenes). So don't waste your time with this issue, just use an email from a well known domain and it will work. I saw this problem with several companies starting in August 2020.

Just to add my name to this with having exact same issues. I have sent a PM. The generic responses are really not helpful. Best Buy really needs to fix the more global problem on how this issue occurs
