If you all weren’t aware, you will no longer be able to earn points on purchases after February 14 unless you have a Best Buy credit card. I find that outrageous, yet not surprising. Got an email about it. Not going to apply for a credit card for the stupid program. Check your inboxes.
I haven't gotten the email yet, but I do see the updated terms that will start next month. What's the point of having My Best Buy at all anymore if you don't get points without using the credit card?
Having a store rewards program that is only available to credit card holders is a credit rewards program with extra (unnecessary) steps. Make the card behave like the target red card where you just get the 5% back upfront and be done with it.
I don't know why Best Buy is so determined to lose me as a customer but, dang, they are dedicated. Kill GCU, make it so you can't get RZ points on Apple purchases...I stuck through it all. Maybe I wasn't shopping at Best Buy as much with each change but I still did.
But now I can't earn points at all without having a Best Buy credit card? Yeah, we're done here.
The kicker is I DO have a My Best Buy CC (Visa, even) but after the theft of my points last year, they forced me to create a new account and can't get my account fully linked enough to let me even bank my points anymore. So I can't even trust they'll do it right enough to register I have the card to give me points.
I sent a reply to the message Best Buy sent out about the program change when it arrived in my inbox, lol.
You may not check this inbox but you know what, that's fine. I just wanted to send this message to inform you that 2023 will be the final year I will be a customer with your business and that it will only consist of a single purchase. Your constant and negative policy changes have undone any goodwill you had built up as the sole major electronics retailer left in the United States and it is with grave disappointment that I find myself having to sever this business relationship. If at some point in the future your management comes to its senses and realizes how disloyal you have been to your customer base I may consider resuming interacting with Best Buy but at this[sic] juncture this is no reason for me to continue making purchases with your company when so little is done to make it worth my while.

I am also very disappointed with the new changes. This is a very stupid move on Best Buy's part. I don't want to be force to get a credit card I don't want. Their rewards program seems to have many issues as it is.
If they want more people to get their credit card they should have a better product. Homestly is not a very good credit card.
I think this is a very bad business decision. BB has been my go-to and the rewards kept bringing me back. This will no longer be the case since there will be no rewards as I choose not to open a credit account with you. I have an Amazon credit account which I will now be using for my electronics purchases.
