Re: New email: Your My Best Buy banked rewards will automatically issue after 9/27/22.

The lack of a response is the worst part here.  When they removed the tiers one of the benefits of keeping a Best Buy card was you could at least keep banking points.  Now I guess that is going away too with zero explanation.

At least three official Best Buy representatives have been in this thread and have not said a word about what is going on here.

They will only talk to you via private message so that they don't reveal anything to the general public.

The whole situation is bad and they are going to lose their most loyal customers.

They were one of the last brick & mortar stores I frequented, but guess that's over too.

Why do these places shoot themselves in the foot and then blame other things when they go out of business?

Absolutely. Best Buy reps, please just tell us what's going on. You can't just ask for people to private message you. It makes it look like you're trying to hide something, and makes the company look bad.

I've pretty much shifted most of my game shopping back to Amazon and GameStop, though the latter is more of a rarity. Give us answers!

So in my private conversation, they basically said the tiers are gone and that unless you have a BB credit card, no more point banking.  Also, if you have a total tech membership, you actually have more benefits than with Elite Plus, but no point banking.

Not sure why they couldn't just say this in public.

I have and use a BB credit card, I too got this email. Some explanation is warranted given previously stated policy and a change like this.

I would contact best buy. I just looked into obtaining a card and the info says the following: "As a Cardmember, you have the exclusive option to bank your My Best Buy points* until you’re ready to issue a reward certificate."

Everyone, regardless of if we have a BB card it not, has gotten the same message.

I mean…. we kind of ARE contacting Best Buy RIGHT HERE! They are just ignoring it.

Re: New email: Your My Best Buy banked rewards will automatically issue after 9/27/22.

It's desperation. They know BB is a sinking ship. They can't compete with Amazon (among other online retailers) and they're trying like heck to squeeze money out of people. Instead of just giving us good service, a good showroom, and things like free same day shipping..they're trying to get $200 out of us, or a BB credit card (where they also profit) just to do something as simple as point banking? Nope...not going to happen.

Anyone who shorted BB stock recently is thrilled.

Re: New email: Your My Best Buy banked rewards will automatically issue after 9/27/22.

The Elite Plus card is how they compete with the likes of Amazon and they have decided they don't want to do that anymore. The loyalty card benefits, the points banking and free fast shipping, is why I buy all my client's equipment there. I already have a Best Buy credit card, so I have no idea why I got that message. If thats the requirement to keep my points banking I'll buy a bottle of water once a month with the card and pay it off.

What really gets me mad is the complete lack of communication or transparency. Don't come to this forum where your most loyal customers just want clarification and ask everyone for a private message. Post what's going on here for all to read. Post on your website what's going on. Follow up that email with a proper explanation and a link for more info that isn't broken like the first. Communication is key.
