Never Received any certificates ever

Hi. I have a major complaint. I've spent 1000s of dollars at best buy and always give my account number. After purchases 4 televisions, several computers, camera, games, nintendo switch and supplies, mac/apple computers and supplies and countless other things, not once have I gotten a certificate. I would ask and I would be told, you don't have enough points. I finally looked today on my account and see that I should have recently gotten a $5 certicate - I can't imagine how many $5 certifcates I've missed out on in the past. Now, it won't even let me see my past 2 years of activity.

I think somone in Best Buy has been using my certificates or is there a glitch? I wonder how many people, stupid like me, just keep thinking, one of these days, I'm gonna get a certificate. I am so upset at this. Yes, at myself for being naive but also because I expect Best Buy to help. Something smells rotten. And how about over the last 20 years?

Re: Never Received any certificates ever

Hi there, polaris10,

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for reaching out! After spending so much over so many years at Best Buy, I would likely be wondering where my rewards are too if I hadn't received any. There are many factors that could come into play, so I'm glad you've asked what may be going on.

Under our My Best Buy Terms, certificates typically expire after 60 days unless otherwise noted. The default setting for reward certificates is set at $5 (250 points). This means once 250 points have been received, your account would automatically issue the certificate. Should you receive more points, your account would automatically issue the highest $5 denomination possible. For example, if your account is set to $5, and you receive 505 points, you would be issued a $10 certificate. Furthermore, under these same terms, portions of purchases paid for by reward certificate, Best Buy gift card, or My Best Buy Credit Card when choosing financing do not qualify for points.

We do our best to ensure that customers are made aware when a certificate is issued, as notification emails are sent that include the expiration date of the certificate. With that said, emails are easily overlooked, filtered, or even blocked, so it is always my recommendation that customers manage their rewards from There, you may review up to the last two years of rewards history. While your purchase history may extend beyond this time frame, your rewards history would only go back the last two years or until registration, if you enrolled less than two years ago.

I hope this information helps provide some clarity and what to expect from our rewards program. Should you still have any questions though, please let me know!

Thank you,
