Hello, when I originally set up my online best buy account I ordered a phone for my roommmate and put his name on the account so he ran in to no issues when picking up the item in store. However I need the name changed on my account to my name so I never run in to issues, it is my email and not his. I have ran in to an issue because I need to order another logitech g502 mouse and wanted to do store pick up however the closest store that has it is an hour away and my roommate can not leave the county and go with me due to being on probation. My local store a mile down the road never posed issue before since he is able to be there with me. I would be making the purchase with my credit card and could provide my ID when picking up the item but it wouldn't match the name of the account that ordered it. If you can not change the name to mine you will need to delete the account and will then create a new account.

Hello there naltman,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for reaching out to us regarding your request to change the name on your account. As you can view from the article below, updating the name on an account is not one we take lightly. Accounts are not intended to be transferred, so there are only a few scenarios in which we may update it.
With that said, it was very kind of you to order a phone for your friend. I understand the predicament this leaves you in as it was his name left on the account; however, account ownership is typically determined by the name that is registered with it, and not the email, phone number, or any other contact details.
At this time, it may be easiest for you to update the account to your friend’s information (email address, phone number, etc.) so that he may take over the account in his name. This should free your information to be registered under your own name. I understand this may not be ideal.
Please keep in mind that under our My Best Buy Program Terms, memberships are intended for individual use. If you should have any other questions, please let me know.
