Member ID attached different than Credit Card member ID

Say you attach husband's rewards account to the transaction and then wife applies for the card to get 10% back in rewards and uses it to pay after applying under her profile (but husband's account is still tied to the transaction). Which account gets the points?

Re: Member ID attached different than Credit Card member ID

Good evening, BlueLeader, and welcome to the Best Buy forum,

I jumped at the chance to earn 10% back in points a few years ago when I was upgrading my mobile phone and only wish I could take advantage of the offer again.  You can qualify for 10% back in points as long as a new My Best Buy credit card was used within 14 days of being approved and standard financing was selected.  Any eligible purchases made the very first day the new credit card is used  can qualify for 10% back, as long as within 14 days of being approved.

As far as how the 10% back would be awarded, the newly approved My Best Buy credit card would be tied to the wife's rewards account, so the 10% back should post to her rewards account.  It's possible the points could get routed to the husband's rewards account should it get added to the purchase before being completed; however, the 10% back should post to the rewards account with the new credit card.  I'd simply suggest not adding the husband's rewards account.

10% Back in Points on your First Day of Purchases
