Expired Rewards and COVID19

We have recently lost two $100 certificates (plus a couple smaller $15 and $35, I think) which have expired.

 

With the store closures due to COVID19, we have been unable to use them.  We prefer not to shop online, as we want to see the items in-store and in person.

 

That is a lot of reward money to lose, which would have resulted in spending additional money at Best Buy.

 

Is it possible to get the expired certificates reissued?  

 

I see a number of people here have the same issue, it seems that Best Buy should be giving these unusual circumstances some consideration, as other stores have been doing.

Thank you for being a My Best Buy member, and reaching out regarding your expired rewards! I know I always feel like I've missed out when I find a certificate has expired. With that said, I understand redeeming rewards in the current climate may not be at the forefront of many customers' minds. 

 

Under our My Best Buy Terms, certificates typically have 60 days to be redeemed, unless otherwise noted. Once a certificate has expired, we’re generally unable to reissue them. We always want our customers to be aware a certificate has been issued, so we send out email notifications that include the expiration date. As emails may be filtered, blocked, or merely overlooked, we recommend members manage their rewards from BestBuy.com. There, certificates can be viewed as well. With that said, I understand you may prefer to shop in stores, and given the current climate, this hasn't been possible. With that said, as we have offered curbside services at most locations, and reward certificates have always been redeemable on BestBuy.com, these time frames have not been extended. Thank you for your response Tasha.   

 

I have just discovered that points can be banked for future use (when ready!) and not just automatically issued.  

 

This will help to avoid future certificates from expiring before we can use them.

 

May I also make a suggestion - please send email notices when certificates are about to expire. I think this would be helpful to many people.
