Expired Reward Certificates - Customer Support Mistake

Hi,

 

My reward certificates ($240) are expired on May 04 2019. I called the customer support on May 04 2019 to know the possibility of extension upto Thanks giving time of 2019. The customer support member told me that she can extend it only upto 60 days and for further extension I should call again during the next expiration time. Finally she extended it for 60 days and told me it will reflect in my account winthin 24 hours. I waited for 2 days and it didn't reflect in my account. So I called customer support on 5/7/2019 and came to know that the request for extending certificates is denied. The reason given to me is "one of my certificate is extended long back as a one time courtesy and they cant do that again". I didn't understand why the customer support member given me the wrong information about the possibility of extension. If she could have told me that it can't be done I might have used my certificates on the day of expiration itself. I had a discussion with the support member and manager but they said they can't help in any way even though it was a mistake from customer support.

I requested the manager to listen to the recorded conversation as support team told me that she can extend it. But, he didn't care about it and rudely said "that certificate money is given for free and it belong to bestbuy and I don't have to worry too much in loosing it".

 

Is there any way you can help me to get that certificate points back so I can use them now?

Thank you for being a My Best Buy member and reaching out regarding your expired certificate! Finding a reward certificate expire would be frustrating to say the least, much less $240 worth. I know if I let even a $5 certificate go unredeemed, I feel like I've missed out on an opportunity.

My Best Buy Terms advise that certificates typically have 60 days to be redeemed, unless otherwise noted. Once a certificate has expired, we’re typically unable to reissue it, much less reissue it twice. We do our best to make our customers aware a certificate has been issued, as we send out email notifications that include the expiration date. We realize that emails may be filtered, overlooked, or even blocked though, so we recommend members manage their rewards from BestBuy.com, where certificates can be viewed as well.
