Yep, had plans to get a TV so I got that a couple weeks ago (just after the change); once certificates from that run out, BB is on lowest common denominator status, and I'll find the best price I can rather than choosing BB first and trying to support them. No better for the customer than even Amazon now.

Not sure anyone did. It was one of those stealthy thief in the night style terms of service changes they quietly announced back when they rolled out Total Tech.

@DesertLynx I had to DIG for it, it was filtered out by my receipt rules (which is my bad) AND had a pretty vague subject line (not something with enough warning). I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't though.

I'm running into this issue now, in a big way.

 

Wanted to keep shopping at Best Buy with the benefits of Totaltech (mainly 60-day returns and protection plan included on all products), but Best Buy can't merge my two rewards accounts together. Says something about how my previous account was associated with a business and they can't merge the accounts of the two.

 

Even worse, I've got a Best Buy Credit Card tied to that account. After speaking with Best Buy support here on the forum and on the phone, they can't change the Member ID associated with my credit card. Literally trying to spend my $$ here and they're making it impossibly difficult to do it.

It's quite scummy that Best Buy revoked our free shipping priviliges. Not so much as even a free certificate for reneging on the policy. Many of us specifically purchased at Best Buy to reach the Elite status. My personal protest is not to give Best Buy my business if I can help it.

I don't even care about the shipping - that's a small cost compared to everything else (support, extended returns, etc.) That came w elite. Amazon has spoiled us all for free shipping (you pay for it via prime anyway) but that's not the biggest issue here. It should be those ACTUAL benefits we spent THOUSANDS of dollars to earn that we should focus on.

So they took away our elite member benefits after we spent thousands to earn them?
I would think that legally they have to honor it for the rest of 2022 at a minimum!

Doesn't make me want to spend my electronics dollars a Best Buy anymore.

I'm sure the terms state they can change at any time. Honoring the benefits through this year would have been the right thing to do.

 

I hope this policy backfires and ends up costing Best Buy in lost sales.
