Re: Elite and Elite Plus are back?

@Pookymeister OK, "glitch" was too kind of a word. It's been a botched rollout. I think you'd be better off buying the item from somewhere else rather that trying to get BB to honor the 45 days. The have remained silent despite all the negative reaction on the abolishment of Elite/Elite Plus. They are no longer a consumer friendly company and I'd suggest you take your business elsewhere. Judging by the reaction of the now deleted Elite/Elite Plus forum, I suspected many already have,

Re: Elite and Elite Plus are back?

This thing is a BBY exclusive technically and works with others I've already bought (external HDDs), so not quite that easy.

That said I will be spending less there, certainly not $3500 again.

They'll get around it by having this disclaimer in the email they sent out back on 3/28 announcing the changes were coming.  In the small print at the bottom:

SINGLE TIER:
*If you place your order prior to May 3, 2022, but your item ships May 3, 2022 or thereafter the new terms will apply to your transaction. You may also see some variability in your account information as we transform the program.

Re: Elite and Elite Plus are back?

I've been an Elite Plus member every year for like the last 6 years. This has changed has definitely changed my purchasing habits going forward. I cancelled all my existing bestbuy.com orders and I won't be buying anything from them anymore if I can help it. It's ridiculous that the people that qualified for the membership this year were not grandfathered in. I ultimately hope this causes them to lose a ton of money because I seriously doubt this is causing a bump in their total tech membership... Anyway, I signed up for Walmart+. All my preorders are now there and I've been using them for fast delivery.

Re: Elite and Elite Plus are back?

I hadn't paid enough attention to this and just found out about the changes when I went to purchase an item and shipping applied. I've spent enough for the past several years to keep elite status and had earned it for this year as well. To have it end is bad enough, as it was one of the few reasons I still preferred to shop at Best Buy. Having it end before the year is through even though so many people earned elite status is dishonest and ridiculous.

You would think with the year after year growth and increases on prices for the average consumer that those profits would be enough to afford a loyalty program. I guess not. I was dissapointed when Gamers Club Unlocked ended but this feels so much worse. I now see no reason to shop at Best Buy over a store like Target where you can get 5% off all purchases.

Re: Elite and Elite Plus are back?

Most other stores have a longer return period and better free shipping thresholds.  To have my Elite Plus benefits removed mid year is bad business.  I see no reason to continue to shop at Best Buy.

Re: Elite and Elite Plus are back?

I didn't even know this was happening until I could find no mention of it in my account today. No emails about it got to me. This really blows, Best Buy. Especially having already met the benefits thresholds.

Re: Elite and Elite Plus are back?

Ah THERE it is, nicely filtered out into receipts. Really should've put something up on your site Best Buy. This is what made you great, what the heck are you doing???

The new Membership terms and conditions as of 5/3/2022

I logged on today to check on my rewards and the related info on my status as I was just shy of becoming an elite member. Come to Find out all that is now gone as of 5/3/2022. I'm curious as to if these changes were made public and if they were posted in a conspicuous place on the site as these would be new terms we would need to agree upon when making a new purchase?

Although Best Buy has generalized statements like most other Businesses, these are not entirely correct or always enforceable. Even though the terms and conditions states that " Best Buy is able to change its terms and conditions at any time, without notice, and that the continued use of services after the change will constitute your acceptance of these terms ...." is incorrect. We can't agree to something if we don't know what it is we are agreeing upon .

There are still guidelines you have to follow in order to give your consumers time to make a decision on the new terms or decline.

First, advance notice of the amendment, in a form reasonably calculated to catch the attention of the user, should be provided. In addition to prominently posting notice of the amendment on the home page, some website proprietors have sent individual emails to subscribers, alerting them to the changes. Second, the content of the notice should indicate the nature of the amendment and when it will go into effect, allowing sufficient time for users to come upon the notice and react to it. Third, there should be an option for customers not to agree to the change, whether by canceling their service, or by advising the company, in which case, the old rules should continue to apply to them.
