Cardmember Appreciation Offer - Issue - Please Help

Hi,

Cardmember appreciation month just ended.  The last week offer was spend $100+ on a single transaction inside or outside of Best Buy and receive a $10 certificate.  The purchase had to be made between 4/25 - 4/30.

I made a purchase on 04/30 but it did not post until 05/01 and does not show the 04/30 date.  But, my email receipt shows 04/30 and I should have qualified for the $10 bonus certificate.  Trying to call Citi is pointless - they can't see my rewards account and have never been able to help with offer/point issues before - I've always had to come to the the forums here for help.

I only used my Best Buy Visa on the purchase to earn the certificate and would have used a different credit card for the purchase if I wasn't going to get the bonus.

Can someone assist?  I'm happy to provide my receipt showing the 04/30 purchase date.

Thanks,

William

Re: Cardmember Appreciation Offer - Issue - Please Help

Good morning, William,

Welcome back to our community forums and thank you for reaching out to us regarding this promotion. There were some great offers during cardmember appreciation month so I can understand wanting to make sure this certificate is correctly added to your account. I would be glad to give you some more details on how this process works.

As long as this purchase was made within the promotion period it should still count as a qualifying purchase even if it appears to have posted later. It takes four to five weeks for this certificate to be added to your account, so please let us know if you don't see this by then. Myself or another moderator will be glad to review your My Best Buy account in closer detail for you.

Re: Cardmember Appreciation Offer - Issue - Please Help

Hi Andrew,

The issue is, when I put the purchase through, it said 04/30 was the purchase date (on the authorization) because I purchased it in the evening of 04/30 when the business was closed.

When the company opened the next day (05/01), they actually processed the purchase and the purchae date in my credit card account updated to say the purchase date is 05/01 and the post date is 05/03.  So, now it will not trigger the bonus because the 04/30 date is nowhere to be found on the transaction.

Can someone please reach out to your Citi counterparts to confirm the date they have on file for the transaction to ensure it qualifies automatically and, if not, be able to manually intervene?

Thanks,

William

Re: Cardmember Appreciation Offer - Issue - Please Help

Hi there, William,

I appreciate you getting back to me and providing those additional details. As this order was placed within the promotion period I don't foresee an issue with this certificate being added to your account.

Please let us know if you don't see this certificate in five weeks, we'll be glad to further review your My Best Buy account to see what options we have to help.

Re: Cardmember Appreciation Offer - Issue - Please Help

I have spent several torturous days trying to communicate with Citi on my own regarding this matter.  They confirmed last week that the purchase will NOT automatically qualify because of the date discrepancy (as I said would be the case) but they have no way to fix it (I've tried for days to have them fix it on their end).  They also said they cannot issue me the certificate (whether or not that's true, I don't know) and referred me to Best Buy.

I've sent the communication with them via PM last week, in addition to other personal info (my receipt showing my purchase was made during the promotional window).  I really need Best Buy to interact with Citi and fix this.

This shouldn't be this difficult.  And waiting 4 more weeks doesn't solve anything other than buying Best Buy more time and hoping I forget about it instead of dealing with this now.

Re: Cardmember Appreciation Offer - Issue - Please Help

Hello, wkkunkle!

Thank you for following up on this thread. When it comes to rewards, we know how important it is that everything you've earned is added to your account. That said, I can assure you that we are tracking your concerns in this situation with your $10 certificate. As mentioned, though, we need to allow the promotion and quoted time frame to expire before we can pursue other options. Please send either AndrewB or myself a private message if you're still not seeing your bonus after four weeks.

I also want to share that Citibank would not be able to assist directly with a My Best Buy promotional offer. They also will not be able to change the date a purchase is displayed on your bank statement (as it sounds like you were told). But, our support team would be able to review a Best Buy order date in more detail in our system.

All the best,
