Cannot create an account

Good evening,

 

The TL;DR is that my online Best Buy account has my new email address, the Best Buy store database has my old email address, I signed up for a store card to net $100 in credit and said it was fine to use the old email address, but now I cannot access or create any Best Buy account with that old email address... Normally wouldn't mind so much but I also don't want to be out $100 in credit, nor have signed up for a new card for no reason.

 

Just wondering if anyone can explain...

 

1) Is the in-store credit obtained from making a purchase with the Best Buy credit card associated with your "MyBestBuy" account specifically, or is it a function of the credit card?

2) If it's the former, then is it possible to push those points over on to my active and actual account, since I apparently can't create an account on Best Buy with my older email address that they had on file...

Also editing is not a thing here?

 

Anyway, if I can just add my old email address to my existing profile would that remedy the problem? Or did it create some phantom profile no one can access?

Good evening,

 

I cannot send any private messages now for some reason. I can see some progress has been made on the issue, but there still seems to be multiple Best Buy account ID numbers, which makes me nervous - I don't want to make purchases in store that then get logged to an account I can't access, for example.
