I'm trying to purchase Elden Ring for PC with a $60 reward certificate but it keeps saying "Sorry, but reward certificates can’t be used to buy gift cards or specialty items." Is a preorder somehow considered a specialty item or is the website just not working correctly?

Thanks for reaching out on this, and I can of course understand you being concerned by this error message when trying to use this rewards certificate to place this preorder. I don't believe our rewards certificates can be used to place preorders. You will need to use a credit card to place this preorder.

I use certificates to preorder, and have had customer service agents tell me it's allowed, and even in the forum, there are other service agent answers that say you can. So I think it's just that PC's version is digital, not physical, that gave you that problem. I know I had issues buying Xbox Gold digital with a certificate once.
